In association with Scotts Electrical Services, PDE were Engineering Design Consultants for the UK’s largest battery storage project in the UK, installing a 10MW Battery Storage system at Kilroot Power Station.

The ‘Kilroot Advancion’ Energy Storage Array will provide 10MW of interconnected energy storage, equivalent to 20MW of flexible resource. The Array utilises over 53,000 batteries, arranged in 136 separate Nodes for increased reliability, and the patented Advancion control system, which responds to grid changes in less than a second.

PDE’s role comprised Principal Contractor and CDM Co-ordinator; responsible for overall Project Management, Mechanical Design, co-ordination of the various services and provision of final documentation.

Plans are already afoot for further AES battery storage facilities throughout the UK.
