PDE were appointed to lead the project relating to the refurbishment of a tank farm at Cloghan Point Terminal. The facility was recommissioned as a strategic storage site of Class III products. Site tankage consisted of 4 tanks, each measuring 48m diameter and 21m high with overall capacity of 150,000m3

Refurbishment was extensive, with new secondary floors fitted to the tanks to confirm environmental protection and new import and export jetty facilities installed. In fact, the new import pipelines necessitated 450 mm diameter import pipe lines, spanning 1500 metres in length. Remotely operated shut off valves (ROSOV), stripping pumps, export pumps and 2 road tanker loading gantries were also provided.

Project Design Engineers Ltd were responsible for all aspects of the design, commercial and project management.

This ranged from conceptual design, value engineering and budget preparation, through Pre-Construction and Pre-Operational Safety Reports, detailed design for civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, control and instrumentation, testing and commissioning, including all tendering and procurement for equipment, services and trades including contractual execution for the project.
